Why are we able to participate in these events during lockdown?

We've designed these events with your safety in mind so while you’re out and about for the Plunket Virtual Fun Run Series, we want you to follow all government directives around exercise and leaving the house. The most up to date advice can be found here:

At all times, keep these 6 rules in mind:

👉 Keep a 2-metre distance from other people at all times.

👉 Stay local (e.g. only go as far as you can walk back, this keeps the roads free for those who need to use them)

👉 Only exercise alone or with the people you live with, keep it in your bubble

👉 If you're exercising outside and it's too busy to keep a 2-metre distance from others, go home. Go out later.

👉 Don’t touch surfaces others may have touched. Avoid park benches or playgrounds.

👉 Wash your hands when you arrive and leave your home

Remember, if you're feeling concerned about the health of your children or whānau give Plunketline a call on 0800 933 922 they're available 24/7 and a free to call, even on a cellphone.

What if I can’t leave my home or I’m not into running or walking?

If you still want to run, you can develop a loop around your backyard, up and down your driveway or even on your balcony!

You could even try a different kind of exercise for a specific period of time - skipping, on the spot jogging, dancing around your room, yoga the choices are endless! The Ministry of Health recommends that even though we're in lockdown, we should keep moving. They have some great tips here for your wellbeing while we're at Level 4

We've collaborated with Out and About Auckland to deliver four free weekly missions that can sit alongside your running during the week, with another chance to win!

It’s easy as to get started:

1. Search for and download the FREE GooseChase app in the app store (Android and iOS)
2. Open the app and either play as a guest, or sign up for a new account
3. Join the game by searching for ‘WeGotThisNZ Lockdown Challenge’ or the code EZLV3L
4. Either go solo, join as a family team or with flatmates (must be same household)
5. After joining you will be taken straight to the mission list, search for the Plunket ones and get playing!

Even if you can get out of the house, this app might be helpful if you're finding it a bit frustrating to keep your training up with little ones (or slightly bigger ones) in your bubble, or if you're searching for a free activity you can engage the kids in while you run?👶

Where does the money from our registration fee go?

Like many other charities, we’ve really had to change the way that we do things so we can support kiwi families during this period of lockdown and beyond. Parenting classes via Zoom, 1-1 Support from our Injury Prevention teams, phone calls to isolated families to make sure they’re able to access things they need most, age appropriate activities for your kids developed by Plunket educators – you name it, we’re doing our best to keep you all connected.

The money we raise from registrations and online donations ensures that we are able to forge ahead and deliver these services for those in our communities who need it most.

Is there anything else I can do to help?

The more money we raise, the more families we’re able to support. If you are able, you can make a donation online at

Thank you so much for all of your support! If you have any other questions please email
