‘Nappy Drive’ with Uber and The Baby Bag

Plunket is teaming up with Uber and The Baby Bag to run the Nappy Drive, a Raise a Bundle initiative that enables Kiwi families to help other Kiwi families.

The Nappy Drive will take place on 3-4 November, with Uber drivers collecting unused, clean nappies from people who request a Nappy Drive donation vehicle in the Uber app in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Nappies will be taken to one of The Baby Bag’s logistics centres for sorting by volunteers, before being distributed to Plunket nursing clinics.

Sign up by 2 November 2017 to take part!

The nappy drive is the brainchild of Jessie Jarvie, founder of online baby and toddler supplies delivery service The Baby Bag. Jarvie says the idea came when she realised huge numbers of nappies were going to waste in New Zealand every day.

“One thing we hear time and again from our customers is that they have spare nappies lying about at home, either because they no longer fit, or they’re no longer needed.

“This presented us with an opportunity to do something good for the community, by helping to alleviate some of the financial burden that many New Zealand parents with young children face” Jarvie says.

All Nappies collected will be gifted to Plunket and then distributed by our nurses and health workers to families most in need of them.

For those of us who are no longer are in the nappy stage you can still be involved by texting the word ‘Nappy’ to 2448 to donate $3 to support Plunket and help continue the amazing work that we do across communities in New Zealand.
