Plunket is a charity. Although we have a government contract to deliver our nursing services (the Well Child Tamariki Ora Programme), our free wraparound services available to all parents in the community such as parenting education, support groups, injury prevention education and toy libraries are funded through donations, grants, partnerships and fundraising events.
As part of our fundraising program for 2019, we are organising a Fun Run in May in four key locations around New Zealand (Christchurch, Wellington, Tauranga and Auckland).
The Plunket Fun Run is a series of inclusive and competitive events, where participants can run up to 24km alone or in teams – walking a mile in the shoes of the mums, dads, grandparents, aunties, uncles and caregivers who give their all, 24 hours a day, to raise future generations. For those not wanting to run, we will also have text to donate and individual sponsorship options.
The Plunket Fun Run 2019 event in May in four key locations around New Zealand:
- Auckland (Western Springs, Sunday 5th May)
- Tauranga (Historic Village, Sunday 26th May)
- Wellington (Rimutaka Rail Trail, Sunday 5th May)
- Christchurch (South Perimeter of North Hagley Park, Saturday 4th May)
All funds raised will go directly towards our community services.
Part of the focus for the Plunket Fun Run is to promote families spending time together while being active and looking after themselves and their whanau.
The Plunket Fun Run 2019 run has four tiers of challenges:
- 3km – Buggy Run/Walk
- 6km – Family Run/Walk
- 10km – Go Further (Wellington only)
- 24km – The #fitspo - supporting Plunket’s ‘24’ cause. Or relay team of 4 - 4x6km
At the start and finish line there will be ample space for stalls and additional event sponsor promotion, announcements and a BBQ for participants.
